more movin'
as soon as we decided to move in, rita and i moved our beds, couches, and table. we barely had anything except for those things - i still had to go back to the house to shower! but yah, this was our house in all it’s glory, right before the mad rush of this week, in which i’ve been staying up past midnight every day, using that time to empty, clean, purge, and vacate the old house. it’s a large process when you have a four-bedroom house and 2 1/2 tenants… but today it will all be over! this is the very last day we own the house… so now that i’m off work, i’m headed on over to move the remains… *sigh*

maria's!
hahaha… what better way to start off my blog than to post a pic from my favorite restaurant, maria’s =) this was from a few weeks ago when kat was back in town and she met up with me, rita, janet, rod, and gary over there. they’re so focused on eating it’s funny… sure looks like they’d take a good nap after that meal!

movin'
so… my blog has moved on to a new home page - here at http://kimi.puen.net
and it mirrors my real life, as i’ve moved (down the street!) to apartments 3 blocks away from my house.
i’m sitting here in my near empty room using internet here for what will probably be the last time, and it makes me sad. i’ve been here for 2 years… hosted many a tuesday night here, had housewarmings, birthday parties, overnight guests (and some have turned into ‘5th roommates’ for weeks at a time as they’ve needed it), late night sessions… well, this house has sure experienced a lot. maybe it’s just the sense of ownership you have when you live in a house, but this move makes me sad. i doubt i’ll ever get this attached to the apartment i’ve just moved to… just like i didn’t at our last apartment (although that might’ve had something to do with our manager/neighbor and her husband/man-child =P). but that’s another topic....
to stay on the positive memories, i just wanna say that i hope one day to own a house like this - one that’s open to everyone, a house where people come over to hang out, or just drop by to say hi. a house where there’s a big huge backyard that kids can play in, and a tree with a hammock in it to relax after a long day’s work. a house that has plenty of space to have lotsa guests… basically, i just want to own a place that is warm and inviting, a place that is relaxing, a place of comfort, somewhere to turn when you need a friend. y’know… all the mushy gooshy warm touchy feely stuff that made this house so nice. if a house so old and ghetto and spider-infested as ours could work it’s charm over us, then that gives me high hopes for any house in the future =)
at any rate, i guess i just wanna say - my apartment is always open to you. may you feel welcome in my new place.
and that goes for this site too - welcome to my new blog - i hope you visit often, and leave comments as well. lemme know when you’ve stopped by.
enjoy!

walkin with a rope
last week, we had a school-wide assembly for peace day, including all the jr high students from the farm school and all the little ones attending the montessori in redlands. while we were walking to the assembly, i gasped when i saw the kids - LOOK! HOW FUNNY!!! THEY’RE ALL TIED UP!!! then someone explained it to me, and i thought it was really cute the way they walked the kids over - what they do is have a rope with loops in it, and the students put their hands through the loop. they can hold the rope, or just have their hand there, suspended by the loop in the rope, and they all walk together. not once did i see any of the kids take off in another direction - they were all guided by this rope. it didn’t necessarily pull anyone along, i think it just slowly guided them. they even had the 18-month-olds walking like this too! it was such a simple trick, but it worked to keep all the students together. amazingness…

picasso
so today was field trip friday, and i planned a digital photo scavenger hunt for my students. one of the items on the scavenger hunt list was to recreate a famous piece of art, and some of the students posed as “the thinker” while wearing halloween costumes in the middle of walmart (2 other items they needed to cross off their list). however, i think this is my favorite pic of all the ones submitted - these four decided to re-create a picasso painting.
aren’t my students cool?

spider mom
when cleaning out my classroom before school began, i found this nice little surprise in the room divider between my room and the bio-kim’s classroom…
a spider mom and her egg-sac she was so lovingly guarding!
but, for the safety of my students (and my sanity!), i made the guys take the egg sac outside and destroy it. i know, i know, i’m mean, i kill parts of nature… but hey, y’know, spiders are poisonous in these here parts, and i don’t wanna risk it! it turned out to be a black widow, by the way, according to the guys, since i wouldn’t go close to that thing…
i never thought i’d be a wimp about stuff like this, but it turns out i am. KILL ALL SPIDERS! hey, when you live amongst black widows and brown recluse spiders (yup, our old house had it’s fair share of both types...), you start getting a little defensive and a little less protective of nature.

naruto
just pullin’ this pic from way in the archives (try 9 months ago!)... we were at bob’s big boys with my 50 cousins waiting to be seated… and ryan had this naruto headband thingie that i tried on. you shoulda seen the craziness with all of us waiting in the front - all the guys pinching each other’s nipples, everyone being all loud, and just plain filipino crazy loudness, y’know? fun times…

done with work
okay, so it’s already 5pm, and i’m still at school - grading and recording work! at least i’m done with 4 of my 5 classes that i teach, so i think i’m gonna call it a day and go home and take a much needed nap!!!
*sigh* the life of a teacher… class gets out at three, yes, but my responsibilities go way beyond that. i still need to lesson plan for the rest of the week! *sigh*

basketball league
my sundays since the end of july have been occupied playing in the basketball league at the llfc gym… i play with gayle, jaylene, lala, christine, ‘sissy’, natalie, ashley, denise, and i’m not sure if i’m forgetting someone else. the youth league is in the morning, and then us girls play every week at 2, followed by 5 hours of the guys league… i took this picture 2 weeks ago at ted’s game - he was on fire! and he kept on dancing after each shot he made… his special patented teddy dance =) hahahah! he’s awesome
today’s game should be pretty intense - we’re the only undefeated girls team, and we’re up against the varsity for the second time! they play together all the time - and their parents get pretty intense - and there was even pushing involved last time! yikes… but at least we’ll draw a good crowd =) hahaha… hopefully everything goes ok this time, and no trouble… but also hopefully we’ll win =)
if you can, come on out and support - be there at 2! cya…
