happy birthday, mom!

when i was younger, i had no concept of age.  i mean, the age of “old people”.  and that really referred to anyone in the double digits.  if you weren’t a kid, then you just fell into the general category of “adult”, unless you were a grandparent, and then you were just ancient.  hahaha… yeah…

so anyways, when i was 7 years old, my mom turned 40, and i thought that she’d be happy to celebrate another birthday!  after all, i loved my birthdays!  and then i saw that she really wasn’t all -that- happy to be celebrating, and i couldn’t figure out why.  she just told me that she didn’t wanna turn 40.  i guess that was too old for her.  and since i had no concept of age, i just simply told her,

“Don’t worry mom, you don’t look 40!  You only look 39!!!”

hahaha.... yeah, i had no idea i’d make her laugh that much!!!

anyways, today it is her birthday, and i know that she’s living it up!  she totally embraces her age now, and that’s one of the things i love about her.  she lives life to the fullest and makes the most of each moment, and i think that has led her to love her age - it reflects her experiences and how much she has enjoyed life!

happy birthday, mom!  may you continue to enjoy many more years of life!
